Work experience

Workbridge is the largest New Zealand-owned employment service for people with a disability or health condition.

Work experience can be very valuable to disabled people who are entering the workforce for the first time, have had time out from the workforce for rehabilitation, wish to find a more suitable job, or want to change careers. Well-planned work experience can help to build the skills and confidence of a person who has been out of work for a significant length of time.

Workbridge employment consultants may approach employers to see if they are able to provide a work experience opportunity. Work experience is usually for a short period of time and may be paid or unpaid. Unpaid work experience would usually last no longer than two weeks.

The work experience should reflect the real nature of the work, and be of value both to the jobseeker and the employer.
